The JLC/NLC Baseline Design
نویسنده
چکیده
The JLC/NLC is a normal conducting linear collider based on X-band RF technology. The collider is designed to cover the center-of-mass energy range from 90 GeV to 1.3 TeV with a luminosity of 2 to 3 ×1034 cm−2s−1 between 500 GeV and 1 TeV. The X-band RF system, which is based on the operating NLC Test Accelerator X-band RF system, was recently modified in a way that will ensure a less expensive and faster demonstration of a full RF sub-unit. In this paper, the baseline beam parameters and RF system design for the JLC/NLC will be described, along with the demonstration schedule. Optimization of the X-band Structure for the Jlc/nlc
∗ Work supported by the U.S. DOE Contract No. DE-AC02-76SF00515. Abstract In this paper, we present design considerations to address the high gradient, wakefields, and RF efficiency issues for the JLC/NLC structures. We will present the rationale for the choices of phase advance, structure length, structure aperture, and other design aspects in the optimization of the structure. We will study t...
متن کاملOverview of the X-band R&D Program∗
An electron/positron linear collider with a center-of-mass energy between 0.5 and 1 TeV is recognized as an important complement to the physics program of the LHC. The Next Linear Collider (NLC) is being designed by a US collaboration (FNAL, LBNL, LLNL, and SLAC) which is working closely with the Japanese collaboration that is designing the Japanese Linear Collider (JLC). The NLC/JLC main linac...

The detuned structure (DS) has been proposed as one possible design to control the emittance growth of long bunch trains in linear colliders due to transverse wakefields. A DS typically consists of over a hundred cells with tapering from cell to cell of the order of few microns to decohere the dipole modes. The design parameters are targeted for two orders of magnitude reduction in the wakefiel...

The wire method is a more rapid and less costly method to measure impedances of RF components compared to methods using a beam. A setup using a single displaced wire to excite and measure transverse resonant modes in accelerating structures for the Next Linear Collider/ Japanese Linear Collider (NLC/JLC) has been built. The RF signal is coupled into and out of the structure using two matching s...
